Meeting held at Xhedos Cafe Nine Mile, Ferndale, MI 7:30 pm, November 21, 2000.

HOUSEKEEPING

- Call made for new member sign-up

- Minutes read & accepted

- Treasury report: received $50.00 contribution from David Grayson via mail. New member dues accepted for David Smokler (via R. McNulty, Smokler not present). Knorp to send letters of receipt/welcome. Continue to work on EIN, IRS not reached yet to answer questions.

- Xhedos informed of meeting move for next week.

- Dziubek announced meeting minutes and agenda for next meeting now being posted on web site under Events.

- Knorp announced all contacts from Mike Madias' files have been entered into an MDG database. This now contains 225 names which need to be confirmed as to their current relationship to MDG. Also, a number of people known to be involved with MDGs are not included and need to be added. But this will provide an invitation list for the January meeting and a contact list for those seeking to form new locals.

Heads-up for next MDG Meeting - Election Lessons

We will be focusing on what we learned from this election cycle. Please seek out all information on this topic and bring it next week. Please include: web site addresses where you found election results. Any information regarding places to petition, flyer, host an outreach table, etc..

Heads-up for a December MDG Meeting - 20001 Dues

We will be discussing the dues required to be a member of MDGs. $10 per person/year are not sustainable dues. Please think about this topic and be prepared to discuss it so a new dues structure can be enacted in January..

Office Space

Update from Sue Ness regarding Woodward Ave office space. Nesses have now leased the space for the next 6 months and will continue to distribute Green Party literature there. Individual Greens supporting the lease with monthly contributions. Nesses are willing to leave the MDG answering machine on line 53 for the time being.

General Member Meeting/Potluck

Union Local 417 not available for Dec 3rd. Next available weekend date is Jan 21, 2001. Sample invitation flyer prepared by Cohen routed for comments - all feedback positive. See motion.

Libraries do not host political meetings. Recreation Centers charge fees.

Bonita - Detroit

United Unitarian Church downtown Detroit has hall for $100 rental and a Women's Cultural Center room rentable for donations. Central Methodist Church Detroit has second floor w/stage for $250 rental.

S. Oliver - Hazel Park

Library for educational meetings only, Rec Center $150-$200.

K. Knorp - Ferndale

Library available for free. Available on Tuesdays from 7:30 onwards. Library closes at 9:00pm but MDGs could stay & let themselves out.

D. Karam - Royal Oak

Doug Campbell resigned as Party Manager. Ray Ziarno elected. This means Ray will make the arrangements for the next state meeting. State Central Committee - four At Large members resigned, new four elected. Call made to encourage gender and geographic diversity on committee.

The Non Endorsement Rule, stating locals cannot officially endorse non-Green candidates even in nonpartisan elections, did NOT pass. Approx. Vote: 20 For, 19 Against, 10 Abstained.

This proposal is expected to be clarified and reintroduced at the next state meeting.

Rebuke of Crossover Greens who voted for Democrats - this proposal was withdrawn.

Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) hearing to obtain public response to the proposed extension of I-375 over Jefferson Avenue to Woodbridge. Wednesday Nov 29th 3:30-5:00 and 7:00-8:30pm at Christ Church Hall 960 E. Jefferson, Detroit.

Motion: Shall we confirm the Jan 21st date for the General Membership Meeting/Potluck at Union Local 417 Hall?

Motion: Shall we only consider meeting spaces that do not charge fees until we have more finances and shall we try out the Ferndale Library next week?

Motion: Shall the MDGs officially oppose the construction of an I-375 extension over Jefferson Ave. and send Reggie McNulty to the MDOT meeting to voice this?
